SA Food Trails
Curated and delicious San Antonio…
Food is often at the heart of many life events as well as the subject of banter amongst those who feel strongly about their preferences. It’s a part of special occasions, everyday life and is a celebrated art form. Culinary arts are gaining in popularity as a career option and as talented chefs have become revered as celebrities.
In San Antonio, Texas, that very culinary scene is rooted deep in tradition with a confluence of cultural influences and is gaining in the recognition that is so well deserved. Chefs are being featured in national programs, culinary arts programs continue to grow and visitors to the city are exploring the vast array of cuisine that is offered. A designation as an UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy has even been a part of the city’s recent attention.
Many of the city’s great talents come together with the mission of increasing the spotlight even more and the latest project, the San Antonio Food Trails is born out of that. The San Antonio Food Trails serve as a general resource of the age old question, “where to dine first,” while visiting the city.

The Voting Process
The designees that make up the San Antonio Food Trails receive the recognition after an extensive voting process. The initial list of potential restaurants and establishments are determined by a multi-level process.
The process begins with chefs, restaurant owners and beverage talent from all across the city nominating their favorites in each of the categories and submitting them. The list is then narrowed down to establishments with the most votes. Any establishment that doesn’t meet the criteria set forth by the committee is eliminated from the process immediately.
The San Antonio Food Trails Committee confirm the votes of the Top 10 restaurants with the most votes, and those results are shared with our designated panel of experts in each of the respective categories. The cumulative totals become the final list and put through a final confirmation to become the official list of the San Antonio Food Trails.
The San Antonio Food Trails Committee is comprised of culinary and beverage leaders in our city that include:
Johnny Hernandez, Steven McHugh, Elizabeth Johnson, Jason Dady, Scott Ota, Eugene Simor and many more.
Ron Bechtol, SA Current
German Gonzales, Master Distiller, T1 Tequilas
